Brooklyn Beauty Queen Blog: BoxyLuxe Summer 2022 Review

Hey Beauty Lovers!

The Summer 2022 BoxyLuxe is here and it is busting with amazing products!

Are you ready for the full box reveal?

My BoxyLuxe arrived today (sent in PR), and I couldn’t wait to get it open. This is my first month getting the BoxyLuxe, I usually just get the Base Box, but I always look up the BoxyLuxe box reveal on My Subscription Addiction. I am always so sad that I missed out on the quarterly box from BoxyCharm.

Let’s get right into the reveal…

Summer 2022 BoxyLuxe

BoxyLuxe is a quarterly subscription box from BoxyCharm. It costs $59.99/quarter and it includes 8-full sized products.

Not everyone can get the BoxyLuxe box, you have to already be subscribed to the monthly BoxyCharm Base Box (not Premium) in order to upgrade. Once you upgrade, you will receive the BoxyLuxe instead of your usual box in March (Spring), June (Summer), September (Fall), and December (Winter).

I will go over how to sign up for BoxyCharm and how to get a free gift in your first box towards the end of this post.

As you can see from the photo above, the Summer BoxyLuxe is packed with amazing products from the hottest brands! You don’t want to miss out on the Fall BoxyLuxe, so make sure to sign up for the Base Box and upgrade before they ship out in September.

Now let’s talk about each product…

The first product in the Summer BoxyLuxe is the Elemis Clarifying Clay Wash ($49). This cleanser deeply cleanses pores and reduces the look of blemishes. It is good for oily and/or acne-prone skin. The Clarifying Clay Wash is formulated with kaolin clay (to lift away excess oils and daily impurities), hawthorn extract (leaves skin feeling soothed), and boldo leaf extract (improves the look of skin clarity).

It has a very interesting texture, you can definitely feel the clay!

While I love to get skincare in BoxyCharm, I think it’s pretty risky for a subscription box to send out a cleanser meant for a specific skin type. What if you don’t have oily skin? Thankfully, my husband will be able to use this cleanser. Elemis makes fantastic skincare, so I’m always happy to get their products in BoxyCharm. I just wish we got something that can be used by all skin types.

Let’s move on to some makeup…

The Iconic London Sheer Blush ($27), is a gel blush that blends out so much better than the one we got from Ciate London last month (you can read that unboxing here). This blush is buildable and gives the skin a soft, lit-from-within flush. We see a lot of Iconic London products in BoxyCharm and I usually like what I receive.

Check out that texture…

The blush starts out more gel-like, but as you blend it out, it becomes more watery. The texture is very unique!

Here it is blended out a little…

The blush itself is very pretty. It blends really well and sits on the skin nicely. I am not a huge cream/liquid blush fan, but I will definitely give this one a try. It may look great on no-makeup days, we’ll see how it goes.

The shade I got is called Rose Riot. It’s a very pretty light pink color.

Moving along…

The Keys Soulcare Let Me Glow Illuminating Priming Serum ($26) is from Alicia Keys’ new skincare line. I haven’t tried anything from her brand yet, so I am excited to get this primer/serum! This product is supposed to prep skin for makeup application. It is formulated with niacinamide which helps brighten up the skin.

Check out that beautiful color…

I absolutely love the glass packaging of this primer. Everything about it is so aesthetically pleasing. It comes in a pump bottle which is a huge plus for me. I always love to use makeup with skincare benefits, so this primer will be my go-to for the next few weeks. Once I have an opinion on how it performs, I will write a full blog review.

The next product is my favorite…

The NARS Iconic Lipstick ($26) is one of my favorite lipsticks, so I am so happy to get a new shade in my BoxyCharm! The lipstick I got is one of the sheer ones from the Iconic Lipstick line, and it’s perfect for the summer! NARS just reformulated their Iconic Lipsticks, it now has moringa and passion fruit seed oils, both help a lot with hydration.

Here is a swatch…

I am obsessed!

The shade I got is called Chelsea Girls. It is a sheer nude-pink that looks gorgeous. It also goes really well with the Iconic London blush that came in the box. I love sheer lipsticks, so this one will get a lot of love from me.

Even more makeup…

The Patrick Ta Major Glow Lip Shine ($22) is stunning! Patrick Ta is a new brand to BoxyCharm and I am so happy to finally get to try one of their products. This gloss is supposed to be high shine and universally flattering. It comes in three shades and the reviews all claim that hair won’t stick to your lips with the Major Glow Lip Shine. Talk about promising!

Check out the swatch below…

Let me start by saying that the packaging is beautiful. I love absolutely everything about it, and I can definitely see why Patrick Ta products are flooding Instagram. However, from the swatch, this seems like a regular lip gloss. I’m not 100% sure why anyone would need a $22 gloss when the drugstore has so many great options.

I will have to see how it does on my lips before writing a review. Maybe I will try to dupe this gloss.. Let me know if that’s something that interests you in the comments section.

Now for the palette…

The Rare Beauty Discovery Eyeshadow Palette- Came To Play ($29) looks great for the summer! It includes 6 shades plus a glittery eye topper in the center. The colors are perfect for everyday makeup looks and they all work really well together. The packaging is also really cute!

Check out the swatches…

As you can tell from the photo, these shadows are pretty light. I think that this is a great beginner palette and it can also be great for someone that doesn’t like a ton of color on their lids. I will be giving this one to my mom. The shades are perfect for her and the pigmentation level is right up her alley.

We got some makeup sponges too!

The Uve Beauty Be U Limited Collection ($65) is a fantastic set of makeup sponges. It comes with 3 full-sized and 3 mini sponges. The material is antibacterial and the colors were chosen to represent the LGBT community during pride month.

I am actually very happy to see makeup sponges in this box. As a makeup artist, I am constantly buying new sponges, and these look like they are going to perform really well!

And now we get back to skincare…

The Wishful Honey Balm Jelly Moisturizer ($43) has so many rave reviews! I don’t know if I would call this a jelly-texture, but I do love the ingredients list. This moisturizer is formulated with honey and niacinamide, so it will
help nourish, hydrate, and brighten the skin. There is also turmeric root extract which helps brighten up the skin too!

Tak a look at that beautiful cream…

I’m actually really happy that this moisturizer can be used by all skin types. It makes so much more sense for a subscription box.

This is actually a shimmery product. I don’t know how I feel about that. Due to the raving reviews, I will have to try it out for myself. Maybe the shimmer won’t be noticeable once applied to the skin. Wish me luck!

And that concludes the Summer BoxyLuxe unboxing…

Final Thoughts

I’m actually pretty impressed with the Summer 2022 BoxyLuxe. There were a ton of high-end beauty brands featured in the box, most of them sold at Sephora.

The last few BoxyCharm Base Boxes that I unboxed were pretty skincare heavy, so it was nice to see a mostly makeup box for the BoxyLuxe.

Additionally, the BoxyLuxe box costs $59.99 but the overall retail value of the box came out to be $287! That’s a fantastic deal!

If you are thinking about signing up for BoxyCharm, you can actually get a free gift in your first box (new subscriptions only).

All you have to do is sign up here and then choose your gift.

Which free gift are you going to choose? Let me know in the comment and I will respond with my recommendation!.
