Brooklyn Beauty Queen Blog: Bobbi Brown | Intensive Serum Foundation Review

[ad_1]

Hey Beauty Lovers!

I recently published a Top 4 Full-Coverage Foundations for Redness, Acne, and Fine Lines post which included the Bobbi Brown Intensive Serum Foundation.

In that post, I briefly review the Intensive Serum Foundation, but I really wanted to write a dedicated review to explain why this foundation made its way into my beauty favorites last month (you can read that post here).

Bobbi Brown is one of those brands that used to be talked about on every beauty YouTube channel, but they have since fallen out of favor with the influencer community. I’m not actually sure why this seems to be happening, maybe they stopped receiving PR or there are no longer lavish brand trips.

Or perhaps, Bobbi Brown herself leaving the company and starting her own caused beauty influencers to jump ship and get in on the new trending company.

Either way, the brand just isn’t talked about enough anymore.

That being said, there are still some Bobbi Brown products with a cult following, like the Vitamin Enriched Face Base that I just reviewed.

Newer products, like the Intensive Serum Foundation, should be just as popular as the cult classics in my opinion.

I chose the Intensive Serum Foundation because I like to wear full-coverage foundations to cover up breakouts and redness. Since I am now in my 30s, I also have fine lines around my eyes and on my forehead, so I have to be careful with the foundations that I use.

After testing this foundation with multiple primers and methods, I now have some tips and tricks to share on getting it to look and feel amazing on the skin.

Let’s start with some info about the foundation…

Full-Coverage Intensive Serum Foundation

The Bobbi Brown Intensive Serum Foundation ($72 for 1 oz) is a hydrating full-coverage foundation with some serious skincare benefits. I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy foundations that nourish and hydrate my skin instead of sucking out every last drop of moisture by the end of the day.

The website claims that the foundation does not get cakey, but I will have to disagree with that statement. I will talk about the caking situation and I will give you some tips and tricks to help avoid getting cake-face a little farther down in this review.

So who would enjoy this foundation?

Anyone that needs full coverage and wants a finish that will look like skin. Most full-coverage foundations look terrible in person. They are great for filming YouTube videos and Instagram reels, but it obviously looks like makeup just sitting on top of the skin.

The Intensive Serum Foundation is almost undetectable when blended out well. I keep getting compliments on my skin when I am wearing a ton of makeup on my face.

Seriously, this foundation looks that good in real life.

Let’s talk about the packaging…

For $72, you better believe the packaging will have to look and feel luxurious AF.

The Intensive Serum Foundation comes in a beautiful black glass bottle with an airless pump. There are gold accents everywhere on the bottle, including the text which has raised letters. There is a logo stamped into the top of the cap and the overall aesthetic of the packaging is very masculine.

This bottle would look amazing on any vanity, you are going to want to show it off.

What about the ingredients?

Let’s see some swatches…

Foundation Swatches and Application

Despite its name, the Intensive Serum Foundation does not feel like a serum.

It is actually a pretty thick liquid foundation that feels a lot like a lotion and it spreads effortlessly. If you follow my tips and tricks down below, the Foundation will blend out and look very natural. It will also
last 8+ hours once set, so this is a great option for work or school days.

Check out that coverage…

I wore this foundation for over 8 hours a few times, and let me tell you, this is one of the most comfortable full-coverage formulas that I have tried.

And I have tested many foundations over the last 10 years as a beauty blogger…

My skin normally feels very dehydrated after wearing foundation all day, and I usually end up having to take a few days off from wearing makeup to replenish my skin.

The Intensive Serum Foundation is such a game-changer, it is honestly worth every penny if you are going to be wearing foundation multiple days in a row.

Look how well it blends out without any primer…

The Bobbi Brown website claims that the Intensive Serum Foundation lasts 12+ hours. Honestly, I would never wear foundation that long, so I can’t tell you if it actually lasts that long. However, I have worn it to work (8+ hours), and it looked great all day!

I would definitely consider this a long-lasting foundation.

Now for some tips and tricks:

  • Apply with a damp sponge for the best coverage.
  • This is a buildable foundation, so apply sparingly and only add layers to regions that need more coverage.
  • If you have very dry skin, I highly recommend using the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base under this foundation (you can read the review here).
  • You can also mix one pump of foundation with one drop of facial oil (like this one) to help with application and very dry skin.
  • Mixing one pump of foundation with your favorite moisturizer will turn this into a tinted moisturizer!
  • This foundation dries down quickly, so blend it out as soon as possible.
  • Set the foundation with a translucent setting spray for all-day wear.
  • Always remove your foundation before heading to bed. I recommend using a cleansing oil (like this one) or cleansing balm (like this one), not makeup wipes.

Following my tips and tricks will help your foundation look amazing all day long!
